Huawei Devices, a subsidiary of Huawei Technologies launched data cards EC303C dongle and E560 MiFi in Indian market on Tuesday. The biggest advantage of these dongles is that the customers have the freedom to choose any 3G/2G operator for accessing internet. Both the devices will offer 3.5G speeds HSUPA 7.2 Mbps download and 5.76 Mbps upload.
MiFi stands for ‘My Wi-Fi’. The MiFi can be connected to a mobile phone (cellular) carrier and provide internet access for up to 5 devices. The MiFi works at a distance up to 10 m (30 ft) and will provide internet or network access to any WiFi enabled peripheral device.
Speaking about the launch, Anand Narang, marketing director, Huawei Devices said
In our research, we found that mobile professionals wanted to access faster internet speed in multiple cities at the most affordable rates. As 3G coverage is increasing in India, consumers can now have the freedom to choose the best 3G coverage available from any operator wherever they travel.
With the ever-growing Indian Telecom market, the provision of utilizing the same SIM card used in a handset to connect and access data is remarkable and a definite head turner. The E560 Mifi offers the customer “WiFi for your home” facility, where the users and the family can access internet facilities through one Mifi plugged in.
In addition, millions of budget-conscious users can now get onto internet by looking for the best internet plans every month. We believe, that by launching these unlocked dongles, Huawei is leading the path to democratize mobile broadband access and helping achieve 100 million users by 2014 in India,” Narang added.
Mr. P. Sanjeev, Sales Director, Huawei Devices, further added
Huawei leads the global dongle market world-wide and in India with 55% market-share. Huawei has been working with multiple operators in India and has partnered with operators to offer several firsts – Edge, 3G, HSPA, EVDO dongles. To get the next wave of Indian consumers on to internet, we believe that 3.5G open dongles will offer consumers the freedom of the best prices for data plans.
Currently many telecom operators offer such products in India. Vodafone’s 3G MiFi dongle, Tata Photon and Beetel too offers such MiFi devices costing nearly 5500 Rs.
