We recently covered BillBaba.com, an Indian startup venture by MNNIT Allahabad graduates. The app is aimed at being a one-stop shop for all your bill related issues.
Amit Saxena, founder, BillBaba.com was kind enough to have a short chat with us regarding their app and it’s future:
Q : How do you plan to monetize from the app ?
Ans : The obvious monetization angle is bill payments that you have already mentioned in your post. We currently provide paid financial planning, and have placed the links for that at a couple of locations (see the financial calculator page, or the goal details page). There are a few other which I cannot talk about now.
Q : We read about what you aim to be, we would like to know how you plan to go about it ?
Ans : That’s a long and bumpy road ahead, but we will surely want to be there some day. That’s what we aim to be, and as someone has rightly said – “Aim for the stars and maybe you’ll reach the sky”.
So it starts with having a centralized system for everything related to bills (presentment, reminders, payment), and once we have gained considerable userbase and size, and thus have say, convince the service providers to alter the due dates to suit our needs. Then we can easily club all the bills and charge the final amount from the user, and we take care of everything else behind the scenes.
The service will not only be useful to users, but also the service providers as it reduces a lot of operational overhead. A lot of manpower is being used by them to handle bill payments.
The BillBaba team isn’t a big one in itself. Consisting of three MNNIT Allahabad graduates and an IIT Guwahati alumni. In fact, when we told them about the Hungry N Foolish Team and how it’s still in its incubation stage, Amit Saxena added:
Personally, I don’t believe in big or small. These are notions of the mind, and don’t let that stop you from trying.
